Stumpy is gone but not forgotten. Thousands visited the little cherry tree last spring to say goodbye before it was removed as part of the National Park Service’s efforts to repair the seawalls along the Tidal Basin.
The inaugural Stumpy’s Petals and Paddles Race at the Tidal Basin on March 20, 2025 from 4-7pm promises an exciting and vibrant kick-off to spring and the National Cherry Blossom Festival. This event, in Stumpy's honor, invites participants of all ages to race pedal boats across the iconic Tidal Basin.
Get Ready! The Washington DC Auto Show, coming January 31- February 9, 2025, is the largest public show in the nation’s capital. Along with the engineering prowess on display among the hundreds of new models from industry manufacturers, the show also features VIP tours and a special exhibit area for live painting of “art” cars. The Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington brings back its Winter Restaurant Week Monday, January 27 and it runs through Sunday, February 2, 2025 for discounted dining at hundreds of local restaurants in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
Members of the general public can take part in National Wreaths Across America Day, beginning at 8 am. Volunteers may place wreaths at the base of a veteran’s headstone or columbarium niche to honor their legacy and remember their sacrifice. Registration is not required.
On January 11, 2025 volunteers are invited to participate in "Wreaths Out," in which wreaths are removed from the cemetery. This event is another excellent opportunity to honor our military members' service and sacrifice.
EVENT INFO/HIGHLIGHTSThe 32nd Annual Holiday Boat Parade & Celebration at The Wharf in Washington, DC, took place on December 7, 2024, as scheduled. The event was a another huge success, featuring over 60 decorated boats parading along the Washington Channel, accompanied by various landside festivities.
The Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, DC, is currently home to OSGEMEOS: Endless Story, a spellbinding exhibition that transports viewers into a world of vibrant colors, whimsical characters, and immersive storytelling.

Come Celebrate Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) at The Wharf DC from 4-7pm. This family-friendly event will be held in partnership with Mexican Cultural Institute, Fiesta DC and Modelo.
As the sun sets, The Wharf will transform with a colorful community lantern procession along the waterfront. A rainbow of lanterns will be distributed to visitors for the community to illuminate the night and walk from M Street Landing (near Hell’s Kitchen) to The Grove (near The Pendry).
This annual celebration of sailing features floating docks lined with sailboats from manufacturers around the world. Multihulls, monohulls, cruisers, racers, sailing dinghies and more. Show tents line the shore, stocked with the latest in nautical gear and accessories, electronics, communication equipment, sails, rigging, education, charter companies, clubs and more.
Annapolis Boat Shows will open its 52nd powerboat show this fall at Annapolis City Dock from October 3rd to 6th. This year’s show will feature 370 boats for guests to preview alongside tents stocked with the latest in nautical gear and accessories, electronics, communication equipment, education, charter companies, clubs, and more.
“Our show is an annual stop for powerboaters from all over the country, because whatever they’re looking at, there’s an opportunity to see it, touch it, and take it for a spin,” says Annapolis Boat Shows President Mary Ewenson. “I’m glad we can bring back fan favorites such as the Demo Dock and BoatUS On-Water Training and introduce guests to some new experiences as well.”
SHOW HIGHLIGHTSThe 24th annual Library of Congress National Book Festival was held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC, on Saturday, August 24, from 9am to 8pm.
The event was free and open to the public.
