The Hot Dog Eating Contest Brought Its Own Crowd Energy
The Kingsford Great American Grilling Stage was not limited to chef demos and pitmaster appearances. It also hosted the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on Saturday, June 27, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., according to the official schedule.
The festival’s post-event release noted that Miki Sudo, reigning Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest champion and holder of the women’s record of 51 hot dogs, made a special appearance connected to one of the weekend’s most anticipated competitions.
At the 34th Annual Giant BBQ Battle in Washington DC, Miki Sudo finished with 28 hot dogs and buns, but the combined effort of Crazy Legs Conti, Badlands Booker, and Ronnie Hartman totaled 33 to claim the exhibition win.
It took three MLE (Major League Eating) legends to take down the Queen.
