What is The District Cup? The District Cup is an annual Polo cup on the National Mall. It aims to bring players together from various polo communities to play on America’s front yard, while attendees can watch the oldest team sport on earth. Each year, four teams compete, with one ultimately winning “The District Cup.”

The 2024 edition of The District Cup was held at West Potomac Park on the National Mall. The event kicked off at 11:00 AM and featured not only thrilling polo matches but also cultural exhibitions and gourmet food stations representing different countries.

Mary Louie Muldoon, pictured center, was the emcee for The District Cup held on June 15th, 2024. She provided a real-time, play-by-play live commentary of the polo matches describing the action in vivid detail. Known for her expertise and charisma, she brought an engaging and lively presence to the event, enhancing the overall experience for the attendees.

She is a well-known figure in the equestrian community. Growing up in a horse-loving family, Muldoon has been involved with horses from a young age. Her early experiences included training green horses alongside her father and competing on the A-Circuit along the East Coast. She later transitioned into horse racing, where she achieved notable successes.

Muldoon eventually founded Red Eagle Ranch, a premier polo training facility in Poolesville, Maryland. At Red Eagle Ranch, she focuses on riding, training, and competing, while also introducing new enthusiasts to the sport of polo. Her dedication to the sport and her vibrant personality made her an excellent choice to host The District Cup, where she brought energy and expertise to the event.
